Want to Study at KCL? APPLY NOW!

As a part of NGU’s collaboration with King’s College London, NGU is pleased to announce its Exchange and Study Abroad Programs for its students in the school of Business and Finance. The Exchange and Study Abroad Programs will offer excelling students in the school of Business and Finance an opportunity to study for a semester and up to a year abroad at King’s College London.

The objective of the programs is to create unique learning opportunities for students at NGU to explore their field of study in an international context and to enable them to add professional experience to their learning. Moreover, the programs aim at helping the students to expand their learning perspectives by exposing them to different learning methods than that in their own countries which will build their analytical and critical thinking skills. The programs also provide the students with opportunities to act as ambassadors to their university and their country by being exposed to diverse cultures and nationalities during either their Exchange or Study Abroad Programs. Finally, upon returning from their Exchange or Study Abroad Programs, students will assume leadership roles and provide support to consecutive colleagues who will undertake the program.

For more information about the programs and eligibility click here. You will also need to submit a complete online application form to be considered for the Exchange Program and the Study Abroad Program.

Significant research achievement by NGU medical students

NGU is pleased to announce that the medical students Abdelrahman Yousry, Salma Ibrahim and Mennah Hisham published a review article in the prestigious journal “Seminars in Liver Disease” with Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ihab, Dr. Nada El Ekiaby and Dr. Mai Zaghloul.
The Journal’s Impact factor is 4.167, which is considered a high-ranked specialized journal in Liver Diseases. NGU is proud of their significant efforts as they had the full-fledged experience of literature review, manuscript writing and submission, replying to the reviewers as well as proof editing the manuscript. That was a challenge for an undergraduate student.

Great news from the Health Sciences Research Division, School of Medicine

NGU is proud to announce that Prof. Dr Ahmed Ihab, Dr Nada El-Ekiaby, Dr Injie Fawzy and Dr Mai Zaghloul have just received a research grant from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) in collaboration with the Institute of Pathology, University of Heidelberg, Germany. This is the first time for Egyptian researchers to be granted a DFG fund from Germany.

This research grant is an outcome of a long-standing cooperation in liver cancer research that started 12 years ago between Dr Ahmed Ihab’s research group and Prof. Dr Peter Schirmacher and Prof. Dr Kai Breuhahn (Institute of Pathology). The project focuses on the role of a mitogenic signaling pathway on regulating the non-coding transcriptome and hence on the progression of liver cancer.

NGU is heading towards being a smoke free campus

NGU is looking into methods of transforming its campus to a smoke-free one. Looking into success stories of universities around the world and reflecting on those who were unable to reach a smoke-free campus, we realized that when members of those universities worked together they were more likely to reach their goals.

We are very pleased to announce that we are inviting representatives from each faculty -both staff and students- to participate in the NGU Smoke-Free Committee. This committee will study the different mechanisms for reaching a smoke-free campus and will work with all members of the NGU community in implementing this policy. Once successful, NGU will be able to share its story in applying participatory approaches for community change and will mentor and guide other universities in Egypt to become smoke-free as well.

NGU will become smoke-free only if we do it together!

Therefore, we invite all our students to send your ideas and suggestions to the Student Life Office. We welcome all ideas and any support you want to give.
