Designed by leading international architecture firm, Gensler, NGU wasn’t built to just be a university, but a hub for both scholarship and enterprise. The campus is situated on a designated 170,000 square meter, right at the heart of NEWGIZA development, 5 minutes away from the new Grand Egyptian Museum, 10 minutes away from the Great Pyramids of Giza, and 20 minutes from the capital’s historic Downtown.
NGU is very much a part of Cairo’s educational and cultural fabric, with the campus’s unique location representing the intersection of tradition and progress.
The Giza Plateau, Home to a Global Campus
The campus provides NGU’s students and faculty with open spaces, indoor and outdoor facilities, and a strong focus on an eco-friendly ethos. The purpose of building a campus in line with international environmental standards has been translated into the university’s environmentally friendly protocols, ensuring NGU has a lean carbon footprint, with even the roofs containing green areas that can be utilized by the student body. In addition to this green focus, NGU offers its students state-of-the-art lecture rooms, libraries, and study facilities within its buildings, while the palm-lined paths lead to green outdoor spaces containing gardens and sport fields. The brand new medical facilities –opened in 2016 – are home to 17 specialized laboratories, while the entire campus is connected using a cutting edge information technology infrastructure.
Strategic Location
Strategically set only 20 minutes away from downtown Cairo, 2km from the Mehwar Highway, and 6km from the Cairo Ring Road, NGU is located at the crossroads of each of Cairo’s main thoroughfares, moreover, NGU is located within sight of the Great Pyramids of Giza and only a few kilometers from Egypt’s New Grand Museum, connecting students to both modern and ancient Egypt on a daily basis.
NGU is the flagship education project of NEWGIZA, one of Cairo’s landmark destinations, including some of the city’s most popular and active cultural hubs, as well as a sports club and a lively downtown area filled with restaurants, shops, and cafes. NGU is well placed within NEWGIZA for students to have the best academic, extracurricular, and social experience possible.
