NGU is Now Offering Online Support Sessions for the Students

Dear NGU Students,

In its continued efforts to serve its community, and in line with NGU values, the Student Affairs Office would like to introduce a new initiative provided through the Office of Student Support (OSS) catered for the current unprecedented circumstances.  We strongly feel it is our duty to continue to provide support for the community in those tough times, in an attempt to help maintain a balanced and well-rounded mindset.  Therefore, Ms. Salma El-Shayeb, Head of the OSS, will continue working ONLINE with students during this coming period taking into consideration that the OSS does not provide long term therapy nor psychiatric related monitoring.

Online Support to Students includes:

  1. Healthy coping mechanisms for stress management.
  2. Dealing with personal emotional struggles.
  3. Help with school-college transition under current circumstances.
  4. Mentoring tips to improve soft academic skills.
  5. Support the emotional needs of students who are away from their families and friends, and struggle with feelings of loneliness.
  6. Help to deal with feelings of anxiety stemming from overexposure to social media.
  7. Support grief and bereavement situations while taking into consideration outsourcing or referral to a therapist if needed.
  8. Tips to establish balanced and healthy habits (e.g. deal with emotional eating, sleep patterns, etc.).
