NGU Students Won First Place at Injaz Start Up Program via FirstKaid

FirstKaid is an educational organization founded by a distinguished group of medical students that teaches individuals and communities how to save their loved ones in cases of medical emergencies through uniquely tailored, time-effective, and affordable hands-on first aid workshops as well as customized first aid kits. The aim of FirstKaid is to have an impact on the health education sector by using different experiential learning methods and follow-up strategies to ensure participants’ retention of information.

After completing a yearlong entrepreneurship program with Start-Up Egypt, FirstKaid team, and by the leadership of our founder Khadiga Elshamarka 5th year Medicine student at NGU was able to raise 200K EGP and win first place at Injaz Egypt start-up program. A crucial fund that will contribute to the organization’s growth and scalability in the upcoming phase.

The vision of FirstKaid is to become an academy that offers a variety of health education programs to medical and non-medical groups as well as individuals. Yet, they started with their first aid program as they believe that knowing the basics of how to save your loved ones in cases of medical emergencies is a necessity and not a privilege. They also aspire to become the number one producers of First Aid Kits in the MENA region.

Their mission is to create a safe environment in case of an emergency around our society and to raise awareness on different health topics. According to WHO, thousands of people die each year in situations where first aid could have helped save their lives. FirstKaid aims to decrease the number of morbidity and mortalities caused by taking incorrect first aid actions or delayed first response.

“The whole experience of Start-Up Egypt contributed to our personal and professional growth in many aspects. This achievement contributed to our validation. We are now on the entrepreneurship ecosystem map. We can’t describe how we feel but we know for sure that the push we earned from this win will greatly assist us in the upcoming period.” Khadiga Elshamarka, founder of FirstKaid and year-5 medical student.
Khadiga continues “As a team, we came closer and stronger, we more ready than ever to expand and use the fund in the scalability of our work. We group of medical students who are aiming to create a safer Egypt and if we can a safer world.”
“Thanks to our support system, our friends & families, Injaz Team, and definitely NGU student affairs as well as the school of medicine. Everyone contributed to this win.” Khadiga concludes.
