Course Overview:
The course aims to help every dentist improve his basic skills in diagnosis and management of minor oral surgery techniques and principles in the day-to-day clinical practice.
Objectives:
- Learn how to evaluate minor oral surgical situations and emergencies.
- Formulate the proper treatment plan for dental impactions and management of soft tissue pathologies.
- Learn the various types of flaps, suturing and basic atraumatic surgical techniques in management of all types of surgical extraction.
- Management of dental emergencies
- How to take different types of biopsy.
- Learn the basic principles of management in cases of trauma and intermaxillary fixation.
- Interpretation of the various types of radiographic views related to Oral and maxillofacial surgery and its interpretation.
- The Surgical and non- surgical management of maxillary sinus infections and pathology
- The management of all types of odontomes and remaining roots through knowing the principles of using elevators and atraumatic tissue handling
Course Content (seven hours per session for the duration of five consecutive days):
- 4 theoretical lectures
- Hands on various suturing techniques
- Hands on radiographic imaging, analysis and planning of dental impactions using CBCT
- Hands on Maxillomandibular fixation in cases of trauma
- Hands on animal head for the various surgical procedures
- Clinical hands-on patients
Outcome:
During the five-day workshop each attendee will be able to:
- Formulate an accurate line of treatment in management of Dental impaction.
- Perform all types of suturing.
- Interpret all the radiographic modalities related to Oral surgery and daily dental practice.
- Master the basics of diagnosis and evaluation of CBCT and its surgical related applications in dental impactions.
- Apply the various types of flaps on animal head.
- Master the use of different types of dental elevators and surgery instruments.
- Clinical application on a patient.
