SDG 5.2.1 – Proportion of First-Generation Female Students

Newgiza University (NGU) collects and reports data for this indicator to monitor its support for disadvantaged women students. For the reporting year 2023/2024, a small proportion of female students enrolled at NGU identified as first-generation university students—i.e., the first in their immediate family to attend university.

Data Summary:

  • Total number of female students starting a degree in 2023/2024: 798
  • Number of female first-generation students: 7
  • Proportion: 7 / 798 = 0.88%

NGU’s admissions policy is inclusive and merit-based, ensuring equal access for all female applicants regardless of family educational background. The low proportion of first-generation female students in 2023/2024 reflects broader socioeconomic patterns in applicant demographics rather than institutional exclusion.
