Prof. A. Sameh Farid,
University President

Founder and President of Newgiza University, Prof. Farid was appointed as the Minister of Health, on Jan 30th, 2011, elected as Member of the Parliament in 2010, Chairman of the Education and Research Committee in the Egyptian parliament, and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Kasr Al Aini, Cairo University from 2006 till January 29th, 2011.

Prof. Farid was appointed as Professor of Otorhinolaryngology in 1995. In 1998, he was elected as a Board member in the Egyptian Society of Otorhinolaryngology and as President of the Society from 2008 till July 2016. In 2006, Prof. Farid was appointed as Chairman of the Board of the Cairo University Hospitals (9 hospitals) with a total capacity of 5200 beds as well as Chairman of the board of 42 Clinical and Research Centers.

Prof. Farid was also a member of the Medical Sector Executive Board of the High Supreme Council of the Egyptian Universities. He was the Chairman of the Board of the Technical Medical Institute of the Ministry of Health and Member of the Board of the General Organization of Teaching Hospitals and Institutes of the Ministry of Health in 2010. Prof. Farid was elected as Honorary President of the Arab Society of Hearing and Balance and received many honors from different scientific societies.

Prof. A. Sameh Farid was elected in 2011 as Secretary-General of the Arab Federation of Otorhinolaryngological Society (ARABFOS). He presented a vision for a Reform Plan for Medical Education in 2006, which was approved in 2007; an action plan ongoing at Cairo University School of Medicine since that time. Prof Farid published many National and International Publications in the field of Neuro-otology and Audiological medicine, as well as offering many contributions in the domain of Education and Health reform. Currently, he is the president of Newgiza University (NGU) and Secretary-General of the Arab Federation of Otolaryngological Societies. He is also Professor Emeritus at the School of Medicine, Cairo University.

Prof. Lamis Ragab,
University Vice President for Life and Health Sciences

Dr. Ragab graduated in 1976 from the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University. She obtained a master’s degree (1980) and a doctorate degree in pediatrics in 1984. She served since then as a lecturer of pediatrics, assistant professor, and a full professor from 1995 till present.
She also fulfilled a Master of Health Profession Education in 2006. She was the Vice Director of the Medical Education Development Center in (2005-2006), the Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research from 2006 to 2011, and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University. From 2007 till 2022, she was the Vice President of the Research Ethical Committee.
She acted as the founding Dean of Education at the newly established Armed Forces College of Medicine (2013-2016) and the Secretary-General of the Medical Sector Committee at the Supreme Council of Universities (2012-2016). She joined NGU as the founding Vice President in 2016.
She supervised 48 master’s and doctorate theses and published more than 50 papers in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology, Research Ethics, and Educational Research.
Dr. Ragab has a long-standing experience in the area of Quality Assurance in education. She served as a member of the National Quality Assurance and Accreditation Committee (Executive Office), the Monitoring & Evaluation of New Programs Project, the Continuous Improvement and Qualifying for Accreditation Project (CIQAP), and the team for development of the National Academic Standards for Medicine.
Her Professional Memberships include several scientific committees and non-governmental organizations. Dr. Ragab is multilingual, speaking German, English, and French besides the mother tongue Arabic.
