UCL Team Conducts 2025 Country Review Visit to NGU School of Engineering
As part of the ongoing collaboration between Newgiza University (NGU) and University College London (UCL), a distinguished team from UCL visited NGU to conduct the 2025 country review of the School of Engineering’s program.
The review process included meetings with students and faculty members, as well as live in-class observations, aimed at evaluating the academic structure, teaching methodologies, and learning environment within the School of Engineering.
The UCL review team comprised Prof. Alistair Greig, Professor of Marine Engineering at UCL; Prof. Thomas Gilbert, Lecturer in the Department of Electronic Engineering at UCL; and Prof. Shannon Chance, Lecturer and Programme Chair at Technological University Dublin and Honorary Professor at UCL.
This visit reaffirms NGU’s strong partnership with UCL and its ongoing commitment to maintaining world-class academic standards, ensuring quality education, and providing students with an exceptional learning experience aligned with global benchmarks.

Newgiza University (NGU), headed by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Sameh Farid, President of NGU, hosted a delegation from its academic partner, King’s College London (KCL), the 37th ranked university worldwide and the 7th ranked in the UK.
The delegation included faculty members from the School of Politics and Economics at King’s College London (KCL), headed by Prof. Jeremy Jennings, Professor of Political Theory, in addition to Dr. Colin Jennings, Professor of Political Economy, as well as other KCL faculty members and KCL Senior Project Officer.
The visit took place over the course of three days, during which the King’s College London (KCL) team held several meetings, including a meeting with Prof. Dr. Lamis Ragab, Vice President of Newgiza University (NGU), and Dr. Hala Sakr, Dean of the School of Economics and Politics, in addition to other meetings with NGU faculty members to discuss the existing educational programs and ways to enhance the joint cooperation, scientific research, academic training as well as the cultural exchange between the two universities.
The delegation also met with NGU students to assess their work level and listen to their opinions and suggestions. Moreover, the visit included several seminars held by King’s College London (KCL) faculty members for NGU students and staff. Additionally, the students performed a European simulation activity on the last day of the visit.
Prof. Jeremy Jennings, Professor of Political Theory, expressed his happiness and pride as Newgiza University (NGU) is getting ready to graduate the first batch of the School of Economics and Politics students, in collaboration with King’s College London (KCL). He also expressed his admiration for the academic level that NGU students have reached.
Dr. Colin Jennings praised the quality and the wide range of modules offered in the NGU Program of Economics and Politics, and how contemporary and up to date these modules are. He was also very impressed with the academic level of NGU students and the huge expertise of NGU faculty members.

Newgiza University (NGU), headed by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Sameh Farid, President of NGU, received a distinguished delegation from University College London (UCL), which is ranked among the top ten universities worldwide and the first in the United Kingdom, within the framework of the academic collaboration between the two universities.
The delegation included a number of faculty members at UCL, led by Prof. Dr. John Mitchell, Professor of Communications Systems Engineering and Co-director of the UCL Center for Engineering Education, and Prof. Dr. Emanuela Tilley, Professor of Engineering and Director of the Integrated Engineering Program at UCL, in addition to a number of other UCL faculty members.
The visit took place over three days, where the delegation met with Prof. Dr. Lamis Ragab, University Vice President and Prof. Dr. Aly Gabr, Dean of the School of Engineering at NGU, they discussed ways to strengthen the joint collaboration, scientific research, academic training, and cultural exchange between the two universities.
The visit comprised of several events, including meetings with faculty members and students, giving a lecture to NGU students, following up on the progress of the educational process and student activities, in addition to organizing various workshops.
Prof. Dr. Ahmed Sameh Farid, President of Newgiza University (NGU), praised the partnership with University College London (UCL), and explained that UCL is a partner with distinguished academic reputation and exceptional experiences, which makes this partnership an ideal model for constructive cooperation. He also pointed out that collaborating with a university that is ranked among the top ten universities in the world provides students with a world-class educational level and quality.
Prof. Dr. Farid added that Newgiza University (NGU) continues to strengthen and expand its academic collaborations with prestigious international universities, in order to develop research and academic programs that provide exceptional educational experiences to its students.
Prof. Dr. Aly Gabr, Dean of the School of Engineering at Newgiza University (NGU), explained that the partnership between the two universities is based on the creative thinking approach, where a progressive methodology in teaching and research is applied through which academics and students seek to make an impact on real-world problems, qualifying NGU students for the local and global labor market.
Prof. Dr. John Mitchell expressed his enthusiasm to be at NGU, and how he values the strong collaboration between both universities. He pointed out that NGU has an outstanding educational quality, and that UCL’s team was impressed by what they saw during their visit in terms of the university’s facilities, and the students’ capabilities and educational level. He also explained that Newgiza University (NGU), in collaboration with UCL, offers one of the best educational systems worldwide, through its study programs and scientific research, in addition to the quality of the students life.
Moreover, Prof. Dr. Mitchell praised the academic level of NGU students explaining that they were able to transform the lectures and ideas from theory to practice, and that they developed models and designs with exceptional standards.
