Newgiza University is proud to be selected for hosting the 2022 World University Squash Championship. The official announcement took place in a press conference held by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Dr. Sobhi Ashraf, Minister of Youth and Sports, and the presence of Dr. A. Sameh Farid, NGU President.
During the press conference, Dr. Khaled Abdul Ghaffar, and Dr. Sobhi witnessed the signing ceremony of a cooperation protocol between the Egyptian Sports Federation for Universities, the Egyptian Squash Federation, and Newgiza University, for organizing the 2022 World Squash Championship in Egypt. The tournament will be held on seven courts in Newgiza University, with the final match to be held by the pyramids.
Dr. Khalid Abdul Ghaffar said, “Universities are not only a place for education but also a place for developing the students’ personality and skills”, stressing on the strong relationship between sports and scientific excellence.
The conference was held at the premises of Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the presence of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Deputy Minister for Universities Affairs, Dr. Sobhy Hassanein, Vice President of the Egyptian Federation of Universities, and Captain Ahmed Shoubir, Chairman of the Media Committee of the University Sports Federation, and Dr. Hisham Al-Jayoushi, Secretary of the Egyptian Federation of Universities, and Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar, President of the Arab Academy for Science and Technology, Mr. Hisham Nasr, President of the Egyptian Handball Federation, and Ehab Hafez, Member of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Squash Federation, Dr. Adel Abdel Ghaffar, Media Advisor and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Higher Education.
