Course Overview:
In this course students will start to understand the Female Fashion Figure Basics, and 9 Heads Proportion of the body, and then the rules of the body movement “Shoulder & Waist “and the effects of this rules on the fabrics movement Introduction to the Stylization and exaggeration, 3-Dimensional shaping. Also explore a variety of basic garment elements details found on both tops and bottoms garments and understand the basics of the flat technique drawing and the basic process of designing a fashion collection.
Objectives:
• To focus understanding on basics of the 9 Heads Proportion.
• To develop a basic understanding of the rules of the body movement.
• To develop a basic understanding of the rules of the garment or fabric movement according to the body movement.
• To offer different perspectives of fashion illustration Stylization and exaggeration techniques.
• To develop a basic understanding of design process and color theory
• To develop more professional drawing, designing and coloring techniques.
• To develop a basic understanding of the process of designing a women’s wear collection based on source of inspiration.
Learning Outcome:
• Identifying the basic the fashion figure and garments drawing.
• Identifying the basics of design and color theory.
• Begun to employ both the pauses and the outfit to enhance the fashion design elements and details.
• Demonstrate the basic skills required to drawing and shading.
• Produce a basic fashion figure with different pauses template.
• Fundamental skills required to flat drawing.
• Demonstrate the basic skills required to coloring.
• Produce a casual and evening fashion collection.
Course Content:

• Introduction to the Female Fashion Figure…Basic Shape, 9 Heads Proportion of the body, Shoulder & Waist movement, Weigh Shift, Stylization and exaggeration, 3-Dimensional shaping.
• 9 heads figure with measurements and. Blending Lines and shaping of the Body (HW: practicing the same for a test in the class) |

• Small test of the 9 Heads Figure and exaggeration of the basic Figure into a Fashion Figure using the cutting and pasting with spaces technique. (HW: To practice the emo techniques at home) |

• Figure Collage using various postures (HW:5 postures for collage at home using references of real fashion models)
• Studying different postures of the Fashion Figure using Magazines and tracing paper and create your own stylized poses of the figure for future reference |

• Study different Faces from direct observation and secondary sources (H.W: Using references to make variations creating your own selective fashion faces and hairstyles). |

• Color Wheel Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Colors. Tints and Shades (HW: To continue the color Wheel at home)
• Finishing the Color Wheel. Choose a figure from the collage assignment to blend and shape and further stylize by creating your own designs using design elements like Necklines, Collars and skirts. |

• Refer to the “Encyclopedia of Fashion details” and Design5 outfits on the Blended Figures using tracing paper (HW: Transfer the Figures and Designs on 300gm A3 Fabiano sheet)
• Demonstration for students Fashion Illustration and introduction to technical flat drawings. |

| 7 | • Explanation of a Mood Board and demonstration of illustrations from the Mood Board of Pleats, Gathers and Drapes. (HW: To make a mood board for Pleats, Gathers and Drapes).
• Checking the Mood Boards and the students get ready for research sketches regarding Pleats gathers and drapes (HW: 3 colored illustrations for each Pleats Gathers and drapes with technical flat drawings). |
| 8 | • Demonstration for various patterns of Lace and illustration. (HW: To make a Mood Board on Lace and design variation).
• To choose the designs from the sketches for coloring in the class (HW: To finish the assignment with the technical drawings) |
| 9 | • Demonstration for Denim Jeans (HW: To make a Mood Board for Jeans and scribbles).
• To choose designs for Denim Jeans for continuing coloring the illustrations under observation (HW: To finish the assignment |
| 10 | • Demonstration of illustration for a costume using leather and fur based on a character (HW: To make a mood board and do scribbles from the mood board).
• Finalizing the designs and coloring them in the class (HW: To finish the technical flat drawings of the illustrations). |
| 11 | • Demonstration of Embroidery and Embellishment with Chiffon using various techniques (HW: To make a mood board with regards to embroideries and embellishments with shear fabric and to do scribbles).
• Review of the rough sketches along with the mood board for coloring the illustrations (HW: To complete the technical Flat drawings of the colored illustrations). |

• Demonstration for Bridal Wear on Colored Paper (HW: To make a Bridal wear design on colored Paper with a technical flat drawing). |
| 13 | • Discussing individual Themes for the Collection and providing the breakdown of 20 Designs with Back Views and Technical Flats (HW: To make Mood Boards & bring reference images along with a write up). |
| 14 | • Reviewing Mood Boards. Fixing postures for students’ collection layout and working on initial scribbles (HW: to work on the Faces, hairstyles and fashion figures for the collection). |
