Course Overview:
Pharmacotherapy ensures the safe, appropriate, and economical use of medications as part of the interprofessional treatment teams in a variety of settings, including hospitals and health systems. There is more than 29,400 Board of pharmacy specialties (BPS) Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialists worldwide till the end of 2021.
Becoming a BPS board certified enables pharmacists to:
- Provide more comprehensive and complex patient care.
- Be prepared to step into a pharmacy’s evolving position on the multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Experience increased recognition by other healthcare professionals, employers, patients, and insurers; and
- Improve their standing in a competitive employment market.
The BPS Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) program is a credential for pharmacists who are:
- Preparing for the Board of Pharmacy Specialties certification examination in Pharmacotherapy.

Program Goals:
