The School of Economics and Politics (SOEP) students had an incredible opportunity to visit the Institute for Diplomatic Studies, where they met Ambassador Yasser Elwy, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director of the Institute.
Ambassador Elwy painted a realistic picture of a diplomatic career — its demands, rewards, and challenges. He emphasized how crises can become opportunities to shine and how perseverance, adaptability, and integrity are essential traits for those pursuing a career in diplomacy.
During the visit, students gained valuable insights into the process of joining Egypt’s diplomatic corps and learned more about the Institute’s vital role in equipping and preparing future diplomats for their careers. They also engaged with newly enrolled diplomatic attachés, who shared inspiring stories and practical advice on preparing for the entrance exams — offering students a hopeful and motivating glimpse into the journey of becoming Egyptian diplomats.
It was a day filled with insight, inspiration, and meaningful dialogue — a true reflection of SOEP’s mission to connect classroom knowledge with real-world experience and inspire the next generation of leaders in diplomacy.
