
New Giza University is proud to announce the appointment of Prof. Dr. Aly Gabr as the new Dean of the School of Engineering. Dr. Gabr brings with him an impressive record of experience, knowledge, and accomplishments. He received his MA in Architectural Engineering in 1989 and his doctorate degree from the University of Edinburgh in 1992, with his thesis related to the meaning in traditional Bahri Mamluk architecture. As a professor of Architecture at Cairo University for over 35 years, Dr. Gabr has been an influential figure in the fields of architecture and urban design. He has also served as Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs at the Faculty of Engineering, where he made a significant contribution to the development of academic programs.
Dr. Gabr is a well-respected scholar and has been recognized for his outstanding work both nationally and internationally. He was chosen as Commissar of the Egyptian Pavilion in the Architecture Biennale in Venice in 2002, and his work has been mentioned in several contemporary art books ever since. As a jury member for several national and international events and an auditor of several Architecture programs in both private and governmental universities, Dr. Gabr has played a critical role in shaping the academic landscape in Egypt. The School of Engineering at New Giza University is privileged to have Dr. Gabr lead them and is confident that his vision and leadership will guide the school to new heights. Dr. Gabr was also a member of the promotion committee for associate professors and professors in the fields of architecture and urban design and planning for six years. He was involved for ten years in the scientific committee of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat.
