Dr. Neamat El Gayar Takes Lead at NGU’s School of Information Technology

Newgiza University (NGU) proudly announces the appointment of Prof. Dr. Neamat El Gayar as the new Dean of the School of Information Technology. Bringing over two decades of academic and research experience across Egypt, Germany, Canada, and the UAE, Dr. El Gayar joins NGU with a strong record of leadership, innovation, and commitment to advancing the field of Artificial Intelligence.

Dr. El Gayar graduated with honors in Computer Science from Alexandria University and earned her PhD in Neural Information Processing from Ulm University, Germany, supported by a DAAD scholarship. Her extensive career includes leading the Data Mining and Machine Learning Group at Nile University, and holding research and teaching positions at Concordia University and CENPARMI in Canada. She has also served as Chair of the IAPR Technical Committee on Neural Networks and Computational Intelligence, contributing to global AI research and policy.

Before joining NGU, Dr. El Gayar served at Heriot-Watt University in Dubai, where she was the Global Director of the MSc in Artificial Intelligence, Associate Director of Research, and a member of the Academic Board of the Global Research Institute in Health and Care Technologies. Her leadership fostered impactful research collaborations and helped shape programs that bridge academia and industry.

A respected scholar and advocate for responsible and inclusive AI, Dr. El Gayar’s research focuses on Machine Learning, Computational Intelligence, and the application of AI to real-world challenges. Her appointment marks an important milestone for NGU’s School of Information Technology, reinforcing the university’s commitment to innovation, excellence, and shaping the next generation of digital leaders.
